York 029-22454-000 SEAL, DOUBLE SHAFT

029-22938-000 is the original factory double-acting compressor shaft seal of York (YORK / Johnson Controls), in English it is called SEAL, DOUBLE SHAFT. It is manufactured in the United States and is specifically used for the open-type compressors of the YK series centrifugal water chillers (water-cooled centrifugal units).
Specification parameters: The single-piece transportation weight is approximately 18 lbs (about 8.2 kg), the outer diameter is approximately 6 inches. It is a non-standard order item and usually has no stock in foreign channels. The order cycle is 7-10 days. This piece is the official direct replacement for 029-26340-000. There is also a variant of 029-22938-001 in the same series.
Structure and function: The YK compressor is designed as an open-drive type. The main shaft needs to protrude from the casing and be driven by the motor. The shaft seal is precisely the sealing device for this passage. The double-acting structure contains two sets of sealing surfaces, consisting of a spring-loaded precision carbon ring, a high-temperature-resistant elastic O-ring, and a precision ground collar. The sealing surface is small and the friction line speed is low. It achieves lubrication and cooling through continuous oil immersion + pressure lubrication during operation, preventing the refrigerant from leaking axially to the atmosphere.
