York SEAL, DOUBLE SHAFT 029-25041-000

029-25041-000 is the original factory double-acting compressor shaft seal of York (YORK / Johnson Controls), marked as SEAL, DOUBLE SHAFT. It is clearly indicated to be suitable for K1-2 type centrifugal compressors and is a key sealing component of the YK and YT series water chillers.
Specification parameters: The single piece weighs approximately 30 lbs (about 13.6 kg), and the packaging size is approximately 12×12×8 inches; some channels indicate the gross weight as 30 kg. There are also variant part numbers 029-25041-001 and 029W25041-000 in the same series. When placing an order, pay attention to the suffix.
Function and structure: The YK compressor is of an open-drive design, and the main shaft needs to protrude from the casing and be driven by the motor. This shaft seal adopts a double-wrapped tube cartridge structure, with ceramic inner and outer sealing surfaces. It consists of a dynamic ring, a static ring, a C-ring, and an O-ring as two barriers. The sealing surface is small, and the friction line speed is low. It achieves cooling and sealing by continuous oil immersion (oil-flooded) + pressure lubrication during operation, preventing refrigerant from leaking axially to the atmosphere.
Fault manifestations: Oil leakage at the shaft seal, oil leakage from the unit, frequent need to replenish refrigerant, low oil pressure difference protection shutdown. Please note the official York determination standard: 750 ml oil collection bottle is filled within 250 operating hours to be considered leakage, and slight oil leakage is considered normal.
