Method for Judging Whether the York RT18-32 Fuse Needs Replacement

1. Visual Inspection (Power Off Operation)

Remove the fuse body and inspect the internal fuse: If the fuse is broken, the fuse body has black burn marks or metal vaporization traces, it indicates that it has blown and must be replaced; if the fuse housing shows cracks, deformation, or burnt marks, or the connection terminals are oxidized and discolored, overheated and burned, even if it has not blown, it is recommended to replace it to avoid contact failure and leakage short-circuit risks.

2. Electrical Performance Testing

Use a multimeter's resistance/continuity setting to measure the resistance between the fuse terminals: The normal resistance is close to 0Ω, indicating good conductivity; if the resistance is infinite, it proves that the fuse has blown and it is necessary to replace it immediately. If the contact resistance of the connection terminals is too high (>0.5Ω), it indicates that the terminals are oxidized and have poor contact, prone to overheating and failure, and it is recommended to replace the entire component.

3. Reverse Analysis of Operating Faults in the Unit

If the corresponding control circuit and load branch of the unit have no power supply, the related components (such as fans, controllers) cannot start, confirm that the upper-level power supply is normal, then prioritize checking this fuse; if the fuse frequently blows, do not directly increase the specification, first check for short circuits or overload faults in the circuit, eliminate them before replacing with the same model spare part.

4. Judgment for Preventive Replacement

This fuse is a RT18 series 32A cylindrical protective element. If it has been in service for more than 5 years, or has been in a high-temperature environment in the machine room and frequently started and stopped, even if there is no abnormal appearance, it can be combined with the unit's major overhaul for preventive replacement to avoid sudden failure and equipment shutdown.
