York 064-49161-000 BRG, L.S. / Low Speed Bearing

064-49161-000 is a factory original low-speed bearing from York (YORK / Johnson Controls), with the part name BRG, L.S. (Bearing Low Speed), used in centrifugal chiller compressor series such as YK and YD. In some channels, it is clearly identified as the low-speed radial bearing for H9 type centrifugal compressors.
Structural background: The YK compressor is a single-stage helical gear speed-increasing open centrifugal machine, consisting of a low-speed shaft (drive shaft) and a high-speed shaft (rotor shaft). The low-speed shaft is directly driven by the motor, and both ends are supported by radial bearings. At the same time, forward and reverse low-speed thrust bearings are also configured.
Function: This bearing is mounted on the low-speed shaft, mainly bearing the radial load, and together with the low-speed thrust ring (064-49158-000) and thrust bearings, it jointly withstands the axial thrust; it relies on the pressure oil forming an oil film on the shaft neck and the inner surface of the bearing to suspend and support the rotor, significantly reducing friction resistance, ensuring the correct meshing of helical gears, stable rotor operation, and controlling vibration and noise within the allowable range. It is made of high-strength wear-resistant alloy, with high processing accuracy, impact resistance, and high temperature resistance, and the mating surface is smooth, with a low friction coefficient.
Fault symptoms: Increased vibration value of the unit, increased operating noise (metal friction sound), high oil temperature, high oil filter or metal debris in the oil; in severe cases, the bearing alloy peels off, the bearing burns out and the shaft is seized, thereby damaging the shaft neck and gears.
Compatibility: It is used in pairs with 064-49162-000 (another low-speed bearing), and is often checked or replaced together with high-speed bearings 064-49163/064, thrust ring 064-49158/159, and thrust probe 364-51806-000.
