The 23XL660009 is the long pleated-mesh cartridge that cleans that oil before it reaches the bearings. When the mesh loads up, oil pressure drops slowly-slowly enough that operators often chase other causes before checking the filter. Swapping in a fresh element restores oil pressure and takes the load off the oil pump.
