York 028 12961 005 O-RING

028-12961-005 is the original factory O-ring (O-RING) for the cooling units of York (a brand under Johnson Controls) in the United States. It is specifically designed for the SAE straight thread pipe joints of the units. In the torque tables of the installation manuals for York YMC² (FORM 160.84-N1), YVWA water-cooled screw units, and YVAM air-cooled centrifugal units, this number clearly corresponds to a 1/2-inch pipe diameter and a 3/4-16 thread specification, and the specified assembly torque is 60 ft-lb (approximately 81 N·m). The material is neoprene (chloroprene), with a diameter of approximately 0.644 inches (16.36 mm) and a wire diameter of 0.087 inches (2.21 mm).
This O-ring is manufactured according to the original factory size tolerance and material standards. It is resistant to refrigerating oil, corrosion by refrigerants, and aging. After being inserted into the joint groove, it deforms under pressure to fill the clearance gap, forming a reliable sealing interface, preventing the refrigerant and refrigerating oil from leaking along the pipe thread, and preventing water and impurities from entering the system, maintaining the stability of the unit pressure. The York "028-" series of 028-12961 is numbered by pipe diameter (028-001 is 1/4″, 028-003 is 3/8″, 028-005 is 5/8″, 028-006 is 3/4″), and different specifications cannot be interchanged.
